This year's St Patrick's Day will be on Sunday, 17 March 2019. March 17 was when St Patrick died and made a saint by the local church, it is thought he died around 461 AD.

What is St Patrick's Day?

St Patrick's Day, or the Feast of Saint Patrick, is a cultural and religious celebration held to commemorate the death of Saint Patrick, the foremost patron saint of Ireland. Saint Patrick ministered Christianity in Ireland during the 5th century. It is said that he gave a sermon so powerful that snakes were driven out of Ireland!

How can I celebrate St Patrick's Day?

Celebrations generally involve public parades and festivals, céilithe, and the wearing of green attire or shamrocks. Imagine people dressing in green and ordering in the Guinness!

Is it just celebrated in Ireland?

No, its a completely global holiday based on how fun the celebration is and the diaspora of Irish people all over the world. However it is just a bank holiday in Ireland rather than any other country.
